Sandi: Sri Mulyani Needs a Strict Leader Like Prabowo, Indonesia's Trade Balance Deficit Widespread

KolomMedia. Candidate number 02 vice president Sandiaga Uno believes Finance Minister Sri Mulyani is aware of the steps that must be taken regarding Indonesia's trade balance deficit. The trade balance in November 2018 suffered a deficit of US $ 2.05 billion. After a deficit of US $ 1.77 billion last month. The trade balance deficit is the highest during January to November 2018.

Previously, the largest deficit in the Indonesian trade balance in 2018 occurred in July with a deficit of US $ 2 billion. Nevertheless, said Sandiaga, Sri Mulyani's step needs to be supported by strong and firm leadership.

"Mrs. Sri Mulyani already knows, she already knows. But Mrs. Sri Mulyani needs a strong government, it needs strong government and leadership like Pak Prabowo to run it," Sandiaga said when met at the Grand Cempaka Hotel, Central Jakarta, Monday.

According to Sandiaga, Indonesia's economic sector will strengthen if Indonesia is led by a firm leader like Prabowo. He considered that currently there needs to be structural reforms in improving economic conditions. In addition, said Sandiaga, firm leadership will avoid changing economic policies and depend on certain political interests.

"If Pak Prabowo becomes Sri Mulyani's boss, the structural reforms will work, because he needs strong leadership with a firm leadership pattern," said Sandiaga.
"It's not easy to change because of course the interests are non-structural and especially political interests. This is what should be our foundation," he said.

Earlier, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani assessed that the trade balance deficit which reached US $ 2.05 billion in November 2018 was due to external factors. The trade balance deficit is the largest deficit in 2018.

Previously, the biggest deficit occurred in July 2018, which reached US $ 2 billion. "The external economic factor from the export side will be a challenge, we have to look at some of our commodities or the market to export very carefully," he said in Jakarta on Monday.

So far, China is Indonesia's largest trading partner. The majority of Indonesia's export commodities are sent to China. Therefore, the weakening of China's economy is considered to affect the demand for export of Indonesian products. Meanwhile, said Sri Mulyani, new markets for Indonesian product exports absorbing exports are very limited.
This is due to weakening demand due to uncertain global economic conditions.
